From Amazon.com
Readers beware. The brilliant, breathtaking conclusion to J.K. Rowling's spellbinding series is not for the faint of heart--such revelations, battles, and betrayals await in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows that no fan will make it to the end unscathed. Luckily, Rowling has prepped loyal readers for the end of her series by doling out increasingly dark and dangerous tales of magic and mystery, shot through with lessons about honor and contempt, love and loss, and right and wrong. Fear not, you will find no spoilers in our review--to tell the plot would ruin the journey, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is an odyssey the likes of which Rowling's fans have not yet seen, and are not likely to forget. But we would be remiss if we did not offer one small suggestion before you embark on your final adventure with Harry--bring plenty of tissues.

The heart of Book 7 is a hero's mission--not just in Harry's quest for the Horcruxes, but in his journey from boy to man--and Harry faces more danger than that found in all six books combined, from the direct threat of the Death Eaters and you-know-who, to the subtle perils of losing faith in himself. Attentive readers would do well to remember Dumbledore's warning about making the choice between "what is right and what is easy," and know that Rowling applies the same difficult principle to the conclusion of her series. While fans will find the answers to hotly speculated questions about Dumbledore, Snape, and you-know-who, it is a testament to Rowling's skill as a storyteller that even the most astute and careful reader will be taken by surprise.

A spectacular finish to a phenomenal series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is a bittersweet read for fans. The journey is hard, filled with events both tragic and triumphant, the battlefield littered with the bodies of the dearest and despised, but the final chapter is as brilliant and blinding as a phoenix's flame, and fans and skeptics alike will emerge from the confines of the story with full but heavy hearts, giddy and grateful for the experience. --Daphne Durham

What a great end to a wonderful series. I was suprised my some of the items in there. Why a couple things happen in there is still a question for me. And kinda a letdown for me in the ending but i great read. Lots go on in the book, definatley worth a reread at some point. A must read for any Harry Poter fan!!!!!!!

Chopping Spree by Diane Mott Davidson

Chopping Spree

By
Diane Mott Davidson

from the sleeve of the book:

For Colorado caterer Goldy Schulz, business isn't just booming -- it's skyrocketing. But as her friend Marla is constantly warning her, "Success can kill you." Goldy knows she needs to lsow down before she breaks down, and she vows she'll do it -- right after her next booking: a coctail party for the Westside Mall's Elite Shoppers Club.

It's the event of the shopping season: the Princess Without a Pricetag party for the wealthy shopaholics who drop at least a thousand dollars a week at the mall. Goldy has been hired by charming mall manager Barry Dean to cater the jewel-encrusted affair. But she has hardly begin setting up when she finds herself in the path of a truck that has no intention of stopping until both she and Barry are crushed beneath it.

Muddied, bruised, embarrassed, but determined to do her job, Goldy manages to get the party started on time with the help of her trusted assistants Julian Teller and Liz Fury. But with the outbreak of an ugly marital spat among the guests, the behavior of Barry's flighty young girlfriend, and Barry's own strange actions after the truck incident, the event is -- by Goldy's standards -- a catastrophe. ANd it's about to get worse. When she goes to pick up her check, she finds and old friend lying dead in a pile of sale shoes -- stabbed with one of Goldy's new knives. Hours later, Julian is the prime suspect in the murder.

To prove Julian's innocence, Goldy must catch the real killer. But to do that, she will have to figure out why the victim was carrying a powerful narcotic. And why was a private investigator called in shortly before the murder? Was the killer connected to a mall renovation project -- or the eviction of a disgruntled tenant? Or was the villain the odd lover out in a violent love triangle?

Between whipping up Sweethearts' Swedish Meatballs, Quiche Me Quick, and Diamond Lovers' Hot Crab Dip, and digging up clues, Goldy knows this is going to be one tough case to crack. And her gourmet sleuth's instinct tells her that the final course will be a real killer.

This was another good one by Davidson, however it wasnt as quick of a read as the others in the series. It wasnt as captivation. However a good read, I would definatley recommend this book and series to others that love mysteries.

Up next (which I have already started is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows)

Such a great book. When I first started reading it I wasn't so sure but every page took you deeper into the story. A definate page tuner. A must read. Nora Roberts has done it again with this book, cant wait to start the next one in this series.

Gideon the CutPurse by Linda Buckley-Archer

This is my fist even ARC and boy was I excited to get it. Wasnt sure what to think of the book more then it sounds good and its unique. I have found lately that all young adult books have the same flow to them and i cant stand a book like that so I figured what the hay ill try it. Im glad i did it was awesome. Its the start of a trilogy and i can totally see this becoming a bestselling set at that. It was very unique in its plot and characters, the development was at the right pace, didnt rush through the details or stretch them out needlessly. The book had a great flow and became a page turner for me. I am sure that Ms. Archer will have a great fanbase on her hands after this book is realeased :)

Can you keep a secret by Sophie Kinsella

Wow, this book was great! I had heard it was a good book but wasnt expecting it to be this good :) It's one of those books that you laugh, cry, and scream at all at the same time. Emma was such a character lol but any girl could connect with her totally. A couple times in the book i wanted to throw the book and stop reading it cause i was sooooo upset and mad but couldn't put it down. Totally a 5 star book :)

The carivorous Carnival by Lemony Snicket

this entire series is cute, very quick and easy read. It makes you think that your life may not be so bad afterall. You would think that someone would help these poor kids lol but i guess it all works out in the end, or so thats the way most series likes these go. Now I started reading this series (book 9) a while back cause someone said its comparable to Harry Potter and let me tell you, whoever tells you this, it's in no way, shape or form like Harry Potter. Harry Potter ranks so much above this it isnt funny. But anyways. its a cute, easy, light read...... a worth reading if you like ya series'

I hear all this talk about Ranger in my groups but noooooooo id have to say morelli is more my speed :) and grandma mazur is just toooo funny. Stephanie couldnt get herself in more predictaments if she tried. I loved this book and love this series

highly recommended to everyone

Prozac Nation by Elizabeth Wurtzel /Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs by Chuck Klosterman/ Weetzie Bat by Francesca Lia Block

Ok so i have been on a reading spree lately. Sadly to say out of 3 books i only enjoyed one.

Prozac Nation by Elizabeth Wurtzel was way to depressing, I have depression so i figured i might be able to identify with her in this book but ohhhhhhhhhh no she is way to down for me. I had to pull myself to the end of the book. I would never read it again.

Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs by Chuck Klosterman seemed to be a good book. Its a good idea but it was just a major rant. And of nothing in particular either lol. What ever popped in his head at the time he was writing is what he ranted about. Couldnt stand it, sounded like a kid whining the whole time i was reading it

Weetzie Bat by Francesca Lia Block was a good book. I wasnt sure about it but had read it was a cute story in some of my groups. I decided to try it. It was a cute and quick read. I read the whole book in one night. I would recommend this one to anyone who needs a little pick me up after reading some tough books.

Cold Case by Stephen White

Well i just finished Cold Case by Stephen White. A good book if i say so myself lol.

Here is what the back of the book says:

The unsolved double murder of two teenage firls. They vanished on a crisp autumn night more than a decade ago. Their mutilated bodies were found following spring beneath the melting snow of the Colorado Rockies. Now - at the request of their families - this cold case is being reopened. Clinical psychologist Alan Gregory has been asked to compile a psychological profile of the two girls. To preoble their deepest secrets. To uncover the darkest truth. Even if it condemns the innocent as well as the guilty....

I give it 4 stars!!!! Loved it great book although the ending kinda ticked me off lol but youll have to read it to see why :)

Up next is Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser

first entry

Hello there and welcome to my blog on blogspot, im going to use this blog as a blog on the books that i am reading....... i have a day to day blog on myspace.....www.myspace.com/kymmayfield but i wanted somewhere different for just a journal on my reading. I am getting back into my reading that i had slacked off of recently. I just finished a book called deadly medicine.. it was ok, it was about a nurse that was convicted of introducing a drug into babies while she was the primary nurse.... it was a really good book but its one of those that you cant believe you are reading lol. I would recommend it for anyone that likes true crime books.

I am now reading cold case, which also is a true crime book, its by Stephen White. I just started reading it but its really good so far.

Description on the book:

It was a cold case.......
The unsolved double murder of two teenage girls. They vanished on a crisp autumn night more than a decade ago. Their mutilated bodies were found the following spring beneath the melting snow of the Colorado Rockies, Now- at the request of their families- this cold case is being reopened. Clinical psychologist Alan Gregry has been asked to compile a psychological profile of the two girls, To probe their deepest secrets. To incover the darkest truth. Even if it condemns the innocent as well as the guilty............

I have been on a true crime book spree lately but i think this is going to be the last for awhile, i can only handle so much of them back to back. The next books on my tbr pile are On the Run by Lorena McCourtney, Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser, Two for the dough, and Three to get Deadly by Janet Evanovich.

I like to read all kinds of books as you can see except for the "sleazy" romance novels. If you have any recommendations send me a message. On yahoo im kymmayfield. On aim im newbstitcherinfl. On msn im genealogynut11@msn.com. And on myspace im kymmayfield.
